TO THE MEMBERS OF THE FIFTH AVENUE ASSOCIATION:
Colonel Michael Friedsam, President of the Fifth Avenue Association died last night, Monday night, after a short illness. His funeral will be held Thursday morning, at ten o'clock, at Temple Emanu-El [Emanuel], 1 East 65th Street. Members of the Association are invited to attend the funeral.

Colonel Friedsam, in addition to his active leadership of the Association was a leader in many of the affairs of the nation, state and city. His great duty however, he felt was to New York City the city of his birth, and particularly to the Fifth Avenue Section, in which he was one of the pioneer merchants and business man. To those who were close to him during his years as president of the Association, and before that, when he was working on Committees for the benefit of the section, his passing will be a great loss. His advice and assistance were always freely given; his standards of business were of the highest and a model for those who followed him into this section. His sphere of influence was wide, and when his friends frequently sought his counsel on problems affecting our city, his advice and effort in trying to solve these problems was rendered cheerfully, and was based upon sound judgement and long experience in assisting and guiding great charities and philanthropic movements.

In his death the Association loses a great friend and the city a great citizen. He has helped to build Fifth Avenue and the entire Fifth Avenue Section to its present great estate. His own institution at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue B. Altman and Company is a monument to his faith in Fifth Avenue. Not alone for this faith will he be remembered, but in every great landmark on Fifth Avenue Association will be symbolized. That the Association should continue to be the influential progressive organization that it has been under his leadership would behis fondest wish.
Very truly yours
Wm. J. Pedrick [signature]
