Dear Muriel,

Pursuant to your nice visit of yesterday, I take pleasure in sending you under separate cover, transparencies as well as pamphlets on the two paintings which held your attention:

The Fontainebleau School, Lot and His Daughters

J.M. Nattier, Portrait of Chevalier of the Order of St. Louis

and though you did not ask for it, I am including a pamphlet containing a photograph of the Fontainebleau School drawing, Arms of Francis I.

You may remember that I pointed out that the painting of the Fontainebleau School is on a panel constituted of three sections of wood, and that perforce restorations were made along those quite visible lines. On the other hand, the back has been reinforced with neutral wood, plywood I believe.

The canvas of the Nattier has been relined quite recently, evidently, before I acquired it, and the portrait is in a remarkable state of preservation.

You will recall their selling prices, which are:

Fontainebleau School, Lot and His Daughters - $ 50,000.

J [[editing mark]] J.M. nattier, Portrait of Chevalier of St. Louis - $ 70,000.

Fontainebleau School drawing, Arms of Francis I - $ 10,000.

I personally shall be leaving New York by the end of the month, but Theresa [[?Parlebewable?]] to answer any of your inquiries, as she will be remaining here until July 1st.

It was indeed a pleasure to have seen you again, feeling particularly well, and I gather as active ever.

With warm personal regards,

Yours,

Germain Seligmann
