Dear Muriel,

Theresa has imparted the very pleasant news of your decision to acquire the Vestal by Maurin. This gives me a particular satisfaction for, as I believe I explained, we were I gather, pioneers in introducing Maurin to the United States. And the fact that by your decision you share my personal interest and taste, pleases me greatly.

I should admit that the name of Maurin was quite unknown to me when I first say these drawings which have so much character and such definite merit, in Paris. However, it was a delightful surprise when a few weeks later in London, in an exhibition on the Symbolists, I saw Maurin's talent recognized by a series of his paintings. But, as is true in so many cases, I consider him a greater draughtsman than painter.

This is a lengthy introduction to say that the drawing is being packed and I do hope that it will reach you shortly, and will constitute a new source of pleasure and enjoyment.

This minute Theresa has requested me to advise you that the catalogue of the Monet exhibition in Chicago has been duly ordered.

With warm personal regards,

Yours,

Germain Seligman

P.S. For insurance purposes, I am enclosing a duplicate shipping advice. Do kindly return one of them with your signature, confirming thus the safe arrival of this precious work of art.
