A 'Veto' by Brundage on Malone

Brundage expressed displeasure with Malone three weeks ago at a meeting here with Frank Carrol, a New York art dealer, and Laurence Sickman, curator of the Nelson Gallery in Kansas City, Mo.
Malone was named last January to succeed the 70 year old Heil on July 1. 
On Tuesday he declined the appointment "with regrets," explaining that demands of the position were greater than he had originally expected. 
Richard S. Rheem, president of the museum's board of trustees, accepted Malone's resignation and said that "at least" several other persons will be considered for the post.
