Dear Mr. Seligman,

Thank you so much for allowing me access to your Prud'hon material last week. It was such a pleasure to see the two works you own by this artist as well as to see the photographs of things by him that you have had in the past. I also enjoyed hearing about the Chévrier-Marcille family. My only regret is that I am unable to possess a copy of your photograph of Prud'hon's drawing of the cheval glass, or psyché , because, just this week I came across some bronze doré objects by Thomire in Paris each of which is topped by a crouching putto resembling the finial figures atop the cheval glass as I remember it. This, of course, is perfect material for my theory that Prud'hon and Thomire may have collaborated on occasions other than in the making of Marie-Louise's and the King of Rome's furniture.

It was a pleasure to see you and I am grateful for the time you were able to give me. With best regards, I remain

Yours sincerely,
