Dear Dr. Friedlander:

May I express the hope that by sending you the herein enclosed photograph I am not prevailing too much upon your time, and that the beauty, quality, and importance of this primitive is good enough an excuse.

You will notice the large, impressive physical size of it when I tell you it measures 1, 18 x 1,03.

By same mail I am also sending a photograph to your colleague, Mr. Charles Sterling, for in my opinion it is definitely of French origin, but I am interested in your comments, and my opinion is of little importance.

However, my first examination would lead me to consider it of around 1475, and probably from a region not too far from Moulins, as the four angles in the corners seem to me quite characteristic of this style, though of course earlier. The seraphins in the background, so very reminiscent of Fouquet's are pink.

This "Trinity" is, besides all its other truly exceptional merits, in a remarkable state of preservation. It is my latest purchase of which I am very proud, and I do hope that you too will enjoy looking at it, even in the unsatisfactory form of a black and white print.

Hoping you are well and with my kindest thoughts,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
