Dear Dr. Friedlander:

How extremely good of you to have written me as fully and so promptly as you did on September 17th. I received your letter this morning and hasten to thank you for posting me.

You certainly realize how valuable your information is to me, as following your good advice I shall keep away from the "Stabius" drawing as well as the "Madonna".

Thank you also for your opinion on the Juan de Flandes. It is indeed the "Kreuztragung" and whether it is by the artist or not it must be, as you write, a most noteworthy painting.

I am sorry to read that you are no longer "laselustig" and as long as you do not wish books sent you could you tell me what would please you. How about "Sassigkeiten"? Would you care to specify the type. Here is a list:

    Orange marmalades
    Strawberry jams and others
    Canton gineger
Nuts, Pecans, Peanuts(typically an American specialty) or others.
Bonbons - sweet or hard candy, or in another line,

    Smoked ham, smoked turkey or
Fresh oranges and grapefruit which are beyond royal.

Do let me know as it would give me such great pleasure to be able to add to your comfort.

With warm personal regards, and renewed appreciation of your kindness.

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
