November 21st., 1947

Dear Dr. Friedlander:

You will probably remember the painting of which I am sending you herein a photograph, as it was exhibited at the Dürer exhibition in Nürnberg in 1928

It was attributed to Hans Hofmann, and I am wondering whether there is anything further you could say about it today.

This painting, which has been right along in my private collection, cam originally from the Hollingworth-Magnaic Collection. London, Christie's, July 1892, No. 79.

It is, as you will be able to judge, in a remarkable state of preservation, and furthermore, since the twenty-five years when it became mine, it has not even been cleaned.

I am happy to say that it finally reached me here, and am indeed glad to have it, as, though it is not the original by the great Dürer, it is a most delightful, attractive, as well as important portrait.

Hoping you are well as important portrait.

Hoping you are well, and thanking you in advance for any additional information you could give me,

With personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
