Dear Sir,
Your favor of 7th Sept was received a few days ago.

Since vacation I have 45 students. When I commenced my school only one of them knew the alphabet - now all of them can read but three. I am well pleased at the progress they are making. I labor under great inconvenience in consequence of a want of text books. I am using Webster's spelling book and Sanders' Readers. I would like very much to get a new supple of books for my school also some Sunday school books I filled up the spaces in [[strikethrough]] your [[/strikethrough]] my report with the [[third?]] of books desired. If you can get some for me, have them boxed and marked to Oakey Bluff Ocmulgee River, Care Cooper & McArthur Savannah, so he will forward them to me.
