Columbus Ga Nov 16th 1866

Mr. Eberhart,

Dear Sir;
Yours enclosing $10.00 on a/c of Mrs. Christian was duly recd.

I am obliged to you for doing me so great a favor, and I will at once acknowledge to Mrs. C. the settlement of our account.

The Colored people here are determined to have Northern teachers and I have thus far collected from both churches about $115.00. Contributions have been taken up for three weeks past. The people will do what they can but they are very poor and can only raise the money I ask for (viz $500.00) by degrees. I hope the Society will send the teachers before the money is all collected; for the money will come in time,
