Dear Sir,
We have rec'd yours of the 14th inst. In reply we will say that in our letter to you of Oct. 12 we wrote "we do not venture to promise, you for the present, more than $100 per mo. which you can draw from the Treasurer & appropriate in such salaries as you judge best." We supposed that we had made it clear that the $100 per mo. was all that we had - we cl'd allow you "for the present", not knowing, in one poverty stricken condition, how long we shall be able to do that. This $100, is not in addition to the $90, as you require, but includes it. It
