for if our Northern teachers could act as Principals of the schoolrooms, and the Colored teachers as Assistants the best results would be reached.

A good yankee girl with such an assistant as they could find her could manage one hundred in a school better than three colored teachers can do

I do not know what I can do for Thomasville. If I could assure those persons of support I mentioned to you I might sent them along but our Secretary writes me that they have about reached the limit of their means in sending out teachers, and that we must do what we can with the teachers already in the field. I am authorized to employ some colored assistants here in Savannah if necessary but think they intend sending no more from the North. If these persons [[strikethrough]] could [[/strikethrough]], as Miss Nevers, could get support from the tuition paid by the pupils I could send them along I have a sett of Charts and some few books that I might share for that place but my stock on hand is small More could be ordered if I knew the number wanted
