At Dawson, I found a small school, taught be Mrs Brim. The people in this section, have been so much oppressed by the whites, that they have done, very little for themselves educationally; They are building a house which will be used as a church, and school house, I dont think that much can be done there before next fall. I could not organize an association, at that place. I next visited Americus, where I found two schools, taught respectively by Mrs Christian, & two daughters, and Mr Sullivan. The first, is in a very prosperous condition; the other is much smaller, though a very good school. I organized a large association, at that place; They will raise in that place a considerable sum for educational purposes. Everywhere I have visited, I spoke to the people upon the subject
