Nesting place of Aratinga chleroptera near Fonds Parisian on shore of Etang Saumatre

Two dead fan palm trees were occupied
about 70 feet high - in a grove of fan palms about 1 1/2 miles west of Fonds
Parisien.

about 20 nest holes seemed to be in one tree & 13 in the other - nearly all occupied. The nests were the enlarged nest holes of Chryserpes striatus - which species still occupied a hole in each palm.

I cut down the tree with 13 nest holes. The trunk broken in several pieces in falling. One young dead parrot was in one hole killed by the fall, & the hatched egg shell in same hole. The other nest holes were empty.

The tree was pretty rotten, & the hard outside a mere shell.

The nest holes all had a mess of fine chips at bottom.
