this County, is, at present, very good, and although there is some necessary dis-satisfaction among both the Planters and Freedmen, yet I am glad to report a generality of good, peaceful disposition, understanding, and faithfulness."

Sept. 30"/65 "The Contracts approved since last Report are few (4) in number. The Planters are neglecting their duty in this respect, in hopes that in a few days the Freedmen's Bureau will be turned over to the Civil authorities, and that they will not then be required to make contracts and pay taxes. Marriages registered are few from the fact, that no ministers can be found who will operate in this work. All complaints made before me since last report, I have turned over to the Civil authorities"

Since my arrival at this Post I have approved and registered one hundred and eighty three contracts with Freedmen. I have registered three thousand two hundred Freedmen, have recorded one marriage return, and filed five Indentures.

I have collected funds as follows;
