called upon said Lilly for the child, he (lilly) refused to give the child up.

I wrote to said Lilly informing him that Joseph Barr the Uncle of the child could claim the guardianship of said child according to law, and if the Civil law failed to give said Barr the custody of the child, the Military would give it to him & directed Barr to report to me again if he failed to obtain possession of the child. have not heard or Barr since.
