In regard to the condition of the freed-people I am unable to report any material change since last report. They are generally improving and comparatively no complaints are made. They are very polite and seem anxious to make money.

Very few contracts are being made, in fact none have come under my observation. They hire out by the month and day.

No cases of sickness have been reported. There are a few cases of old and destitute white people.

No rations have been issued.

There are four schools in operation in the Sub dist one of Handsboro Harrison Co. Two at Shislasboro Hancock Co, and one at Pass Christian. Only one has reported to this office and that one is in good condition.
