I have the honor to enclose herewith reports due from this office for the month of Aug. 1867. The number of freedpeople in this Sub-Dist. is as follows or as near as can be ascertained:

Freedmen in this Sub. Dist. as a general thing are doing well show a disposition to be industrious and take care of their money. There are some exception however. Very few complaints have been made of employers not paying them for their work, these are of some irresponsible parties of no character. All responsible Planters that I have conversed with, speak very favorably of the conduct and the manner in which the freedmen have worked the present season. I have seen no cases of intoxication among freedmen since
