Head Quarters Sub Distr of Lauderdale
Lauderdale Miss Sept 25th 1867.

Lieut A.L. Conyngham
A.A.A. Gen'l.
Vicksburg Miss.
Lieutenant
I have the honor to submit the following report in compliance with circular No. 10. c.s. for the Sub Dist of Corinth in the Month of August 1867, I beg leave to state that there is no large plantations in this Sub dist, I know of no planters employing to exceed six labors in any one farm. I have made every effort to instruct the freedmen at Corinth and vicinity and other accessible prominent towns that I could reach by, R. Road. The freedmen are very much in the minority in both Countys, and in some cases they are influenced by there white neighbors Toppiah County in particular they were informed are presenting themselves o the Board of Registers they would be obliged to pay $300 fee. also an additional tax would be levied when they Vote, notwithstanding these and other rumors the colored people have come forward promptly and "Registered."
No Complaints reached me up to the time I was relieved of any attempt to obstruct or empede the work of registration
