Freedmen furnish their own provisions but comparatively few Field Hands receive stipulated sums of money. House servants however universally receive monied wages for their services ranging from eight to twelve dollars per month.

There has been but one case of destitution reported to me, and that an old crazy Woman, in which I made special report under date of Aug 22nd.  I have received no rations for issue, and none are needed.
