Charles Jay (Freedman) complained that Anthony Neal (white) refused to settle and pay him for his services of last year. I investigated the complaint and effected a satisfactory settlement, the amount found due Jay on the settlement was eighty four dollars and ninety five cents ($84.95) Neal paid twenty dollars cash and ballanced [[balanced]] sixty four dollars and ninety five centers ($64.95) in note payable January 1st 1868.
