Sir,
I have the honor to transmit herewith "Report of Operations" Bu. R. F. and A. L. Sub Disct of Meridian Meridian Miss for the month ending August 31st 1867.

[[left margin]] I. Number of Freed People in the Sub District
[[/left margin]]
As yet no opportunity has been afforded the Sub Assist't Commissioner to estimate with accuracy the number of Freed-People in this Sub District.

[[left margin]] II. Their condition and how they have been paid for work [[/left margin]]
Their is no marked change in the condition of the freed people of this Sub District but it is evident that they are becoming more fully aware of the fact that much depends upon their own exertions and a strict economy in their domestic affairs.

[[left margin]]III. Nature of contracts for the present year
[[/left margin]]
The nature of the contracts in this Sub District are principally upon the Partnership System so much money and a portion of the crop for services rendered by Freedmen most of whom are hired by the year
