States that Mrs R. will not let him gather the crop, in accordance with the terms of the contract. Mrs Russell appeared at the office and the matter was satisfactorily adjusted Mrs R. Pledging herself that the freedmen should not be interferred with.

Nelson stated that Mrs J. would not pay his wife for work. Upon investigation it appeared that Nelsons wife had done no work on the place since the first of July in consequence of sickness and Mrs J. had furnished her with food & medicine during the time. Released Mrs J from any liabiliuty

Complained that Walker run him off the place without paying him. Wrote to Mr Walker that if it was necessary he could discharge Henderson, but he must pay him for work done.
