J.P. Rogers [[margin]]
Stated that Rogers is sending his cotton to market and refuses to pay the laborers who are to work at a fixed salary.
Wrote to Mr Rogers who appead [appeared] with all the freedmen. Mr R. found conclusively from his Books that with but two Exceptions he had already overpaid them. by furnishing them clothing. and giving them Orders on Stones, Stated the freedmen to make no complaints in future without cause.

Complained that Tuinn beat his children and made them work in the field at night. Mr. Tuinn appead at the Office and upon investigation it was clearly shown that Cato was the guilty party. The matter was settled by Mr Tuinn paying Cato in my presence and discharging him.
