Stated that Mr Roach had accused him of stealing corn as it was being hauled, and wanted to discharge him without paying him. I wrote to Mr Roach that in accordance with the contract he had a right to discharge any of his hands, for cause, but they were entitled to their pay for work done, and if they are guilty of crime, he must apply to the proper authorities

Stated that Mr Bouie owes him $150. for last years work. Upon inquiry I ascertained that Bouie was not responsible, that last year he rented a place but made nothing, this hear he is employed as an overseer. I advise Lewis to Gaurintee his wages
