I have the honor to submit the following report of complaints made to this office during the month of October 1867 for adjustment

(1) Lewis Smith (Cold) vs. Mary (Cold) Yalobusha Co. Oct. 1st. 1867
Stated in this office that he had a trunk stolen from him. containing all of this wifes and his own wardrobe and about $80. in [green?] Backs. by said Mary (Surname not known) Referred the case to R. D. McLean Mayor of the town of Grenada. Miss. for investigation

(2) Charles Smith V.S. John Sandburn Yalobusha Co. Oct. 1st. 1867
Applies to this Office to have the children of his (deceased) Uncle Abraham South (Cold) now living at John Sandburns delivered up to him. Said Sandburn had the boy bound to him under the law of 1865. of the State of Miss. Note to Sandburn that he could not hold the boy under said act of the Legislature, as the Government of the U. States considered the same null & void if Charles Smith (Cold) was able and willing to support the boy to deliver him up. The boy was delivered up to said Charles Smith (Cold)
Joseph Williams Yalobusha Co. October 2nd 1867
Reported to this Office that the Freedmen with whom he had contracted for the Year 1867. will not obey any of his orders and refuse to work. Told him that I would visit his place and talk to the Freedmen, that they must carry out their contract. (Settled)
