Joseph Williams and the Freedman he has employed under Contract (as agent for Mr. [[?]]) to work for the present year 1867. Met at this office for the purpose of adjusting a misunderstanding or difficulty, that originated in the erection of a Cotton Press (not specific in Contract) The freedmen continued as they are to get our half of the crop and find themselves, and nothing said about building cotton press, as it cuould take five days to arrive said cotton press, the dispute was settled between the freedmen and Joseph Williams by said Williams finding the freedmen in rations free of charge, during the time they are putting up said press.

Freedmen made complaint to this office that Mr. Linsay had not settled with them for their work done on this plantation of Said Linsay for the year 1866. [[?]] visited the plantation of Said Linsay and investigated their claims and found after minute and [[?]] investigation that Said freedmen were in debt to the Said Linsay. Settled the matter by Linsay giving them a [[?]] receipt for all indebtedness.

Made complaint to this office that J. H. Fox (Cold) with whoever he made a contract to work for, was cheating him out of a part of the cash cover, and desired that I should tale same steps that he would get his just dues. Note to freedman Fox to decide the cover just and equal, if he did not I would arrest him for acting unfairly.
