Case No 8.
Hon. H.C. Robinson represents that he rented a farm to R.S. Smith (white) that Smith employed Susan, & George, children, and their mother, the family was sick for a longtime, and on the 1st of September the mother died, an older brother aged 19 years had stolen a gun from one Davis (white) breaking into his house &c has been arrested & committed to Jail -
The Children Susan & George cannot provide for themselves & have no share in the crop - they reside six miles above Scooba -
What shall I do for, or with these children?
Case No 9.
Charles, Abraham, & Jessy (Freed, complain of having been turned over out of doors, & driven off by Mrs Susan Campbell for whom whom they were working lands upon share, Mrs Campbell complaining that the parties attended political meetings thereby neglecting their crops - Mrs Campbells plantation is 16 miles from these Headquarters, on the Prairies near the Alabama line - 
We visited the plantation, spent two days there, found the work had been done well & nothing left to work, & the crops very good-
The parties were returned to these quarters and Mrs Campbell informed, that she must not interfere with them, & their duties, while gather in their crop- All is since quiet.
