Thus far there have been but few complaints for a failure to pay the freedmen according to the terms of their Contract.

III. Most of the contracts coming under my observation for the present year are for a share of the crops, and although varying somewhat in their conditions, they are most usually just and liberal.

I have issued (23.666 lbs) Twenty Three Thousand Six Hundre & sixty six Pounds of Corn, and (2893 lbs) Two Thousand Eight Hundred & Ninety Three Pounds of Pork to (1229) Twelve Hundred & Twenty nine Persons - Eighty nine (89) of whom were men - Two Hundred & Seventy one (271) women:- and Eight Hundred & sixty nine (869) were children.
