I have the honor to forward in compliance with Circular, No. 10, Paragraph 2, dated Office Asst Commissioner, Bu. R.F.&A.L. for Miss, Vicksburg Miss. August 10th 1867 Complaints and decisions made and disposed of during the month of October, 1867.

[[margin]] Case 1st [[/margin]]
October 2nd. George Boddie, (white,) complains against Port Battle, Freedman, who refuses to comply with his contract, and work according to said, Boddies direction.
Decision
The corn is to be divided equally in the field, Mr Boddie taking charge of his half, and the heads of the different Squads taking charge of their respective shares. The corn taken charge of by the freedmen is not to be taken off the plantation, sold or used (except for necessary rations) till the Cotton is picked and their endebtedness to Mr Boddie  Second, Mr. Boddie agrees to take cotton in payment for the debt, so that the freedmen can keep all their corn, provided the cotton pay their bills, the freedmen agreeing to furnish their share of for feed of mules.
