(8) STICK TIME-- the elapsed time (in seconds) required to bring the ship to a complete stop after its first contact with the ground.
  (9) UNSTICK TIME--the elapsed time (in seconds) required to lift the ship from the ground for the last time figured from the time the wheels start moving.
  (10) The winner of the Contest shall be declared the contestant who has the highest number of points after completing five laps of a ten mile course.
  (11) Five laps of a ten mile course.
  (12) First prize--Gold plaque to winning pilot; second prize--silver plaque to winning pilot; third prize--bronze plaque to winning pilot.
  A replica of the Detroit News Trophy will be given too the manufacturer or owner of the winning airplane.

           Charles E. Thompson Trophy Race 

                      Event No. 15
    INTERNATIONAL FREE-FOR-ALL--Men and Women Pilots
  Total Purse $10,000.00 and Charles E. Thompson Trophy

  (1) Open to any type of airplanes equipped with any type of motor or motors. Superchargers, special fuels or any other means may be used to increase the speed of the planes entered in this race.
  (2) Qualifying speed 200 miles per hour. Contestants must compete and qualify in Straightway Speed Dash (Event No 28) in order to be eligible for this event. Suitable cash awards and trophies will be given to the five place winners in Qualifying Speed Dash Event.
  (3) Ten laps of a ten mile course.
  (4) First prize--45% $4,500.00 and plaque; second prize--25% $2,500.00 and plaque; fourth prize--10% $1,000.00; fifth prize--5% $500.00

          Douglas Trophy Race for National Guard

                       Event No. 16
            SANTA MONICA AMERICAN LEGION WORLD
            FLIGHT COMMEMORATION TROPHY (Perpetual)

           Purse of $500.00 to be donated by the Douglas 
           Aircraft Company, Santa Monica, Cal., to the 
           National Guard Squadrom Fund represented by 
           the winning Squadron. 
      Plaques to be awarded to the first three places.

  (1) Open to all 2 place observation military aircraft approved and recognized by a committee of National Guard Officers. Details upon application. It will be appreciated by the Contest Committee if the National Guard will file entries early giving complete information regarding ships, etc. 
  (2) Five laps of a ten mile course.
  (3) $500.00 to be donated to the Guard Squadron Fund represented by the winning Squadron by the Douglas Aircraft  Company, Santa Monica, Cal. Plaques for the first three places.
