SWEEPSTAKE AWARDS The 1933 competition inaugurates the innovation of a policy which provides one race each day for three of the cubic inch classifications, together with accumulated Sweepstake trophy awards and cash purses. Sweepstake awards will be determined on the basis of points and the final Sweepstake winner in each of the three groups affected will be determined on the afternoon of July 4th. The winner of the Sweepstake award will be the pilot accumulating the greatest number of points during the four days of competition, and who has continuously flown the same ship in each of the four races which make up the Sweepstake award. Points for each day will be awarded on the following basis: first place five (5) points; second place four (4) points; third place three (3) points; fourth place two (2) points; fifth place one (1) point. SWEEPSTAKE AWARD NO. 1 Total Ourse $400.00 For Event Nos. 1,5,10 and 15 for Motors of 200 Cubic Inch Displacement The pilot accumulating the largest number of points in the above mentioned events under the rules as covered under Sweepstake Awards will be awarded 45% of the total prize money; second place-25%; third place-15%; fourth place-10%; fifth place-5%. SHELL SPEED DASHES SHELL SPEED DASH NO. 1 World's Record Three-Kilometer Straight-Away Land Plane Speed Dash 550 Cubic Inch or Less Qualifying Speed Dash for Events Nos. 4, 7, 12 and 17-550 Cubic Inch or Less $1,000.00 in Cash Award, Trophy and Plaques (1) Qualifying speed 175 miles per hour. (2) Contestants must compete and qualify in the Speed Dash in order to race in Events Nos. 3, 7, 12 and 17. (3) Each ship must be flown twice in each direction over a three-kilometer course. (4) Prize money--first prize-45%; second prize-25%; third prize-15%; fourth prize-10%; fifth prize-5%. SHELL SPEED DASH NO. 2 World's Record Three-Kilometer Straight-Away Land Plane Speed Dash for Women Pilots Only Qualifying Speed Dash for Event No. 9--Women's Free-for-all Race $1,500.00 in Cash Award, Trophy and Plaques (1) Qualifying speed 175 miles per hour. (2) Contestants must compete and qualify in this Speed SWEEPSTAKE AWARD NO. 2 Total Purse $800.00 For Events Nos. 2, 6, 11 and 16 for Motors of 375 Cubic Inch Displacement The pilot accumulating the largest number of points in the above mentioned events under the rules as covered under Sweepstake Awards will be awarded 45% of the total prize money; second place-25%; third place-15%; fourth place-10%; and fifth place-5%. SWEEPSTAKE AWARD NO. 3 Total Purse $2,000.00 For Events Nos. 4, 7, 12 and 17 for Motors of 550 Cubic Inch Displacement The pilot accumulating the larges number of pints in the above mentioned events under the rules as covered under Sweepstake Awards will be awarded 45% of the total prize money; second place-25%; third place-15%; fourth place-10%; fifth place-5%. SWEEPSTAKE AWARD NO. 4 Total Purse $200.00 PARACHUTE JUMPING CONTESTS Events Nos. 19, 20, 21 and 22 Jumpers winning the greatest number of points in the above mentioned events will receive as follows: first place-45%, second place-25%; third place-15%; fourth plac-10%; fifth place-5%. Dash in order to race in Event No.9—Women's Free-for-All. (3) Each ship must be flown twice in each direction over a three-kilometer course. (4) Prize money—first prize—45%; second prize—25%; third prize—15%; fourth prize—10%; fifth prize—5%. SHELL SPEED DASH NO. 3 World's Record Three-Kilometer Straight-Away Land Plane Speed Dash for Men Pilots Only Qualifying Speed Dash for Events Nos. 8, 14, 19—Thompson Trophy Race $2,500.00 in Cash Award, Trophy and Plaques (1) Qualifying speed 225 miles per hour. (2) Contestants in Events Nos. 8, 14, 18—Thompson Trophy must compete and qualify in this Speed Dash in order to enter this event. (3) Each ship must be flown twice in each direction over a three-kilometer course. (4) Prize money—first prize—45%; second prize—25%; third prize—15%; fourth prize—10%; fifth place—5%.
