GROVE STARS PLAY AT DESERT RESORT
(Continued from Page 14)
The smart group of spectators were provided a thrill when referee Ben L. Frank ousted heckler James McCabe of the St. Francis hotel, San Francisco, from the field. Referee Frank shot blank shells at McCabe, who was bodily disrobed, and fled from the field in his shorts. Another "casualty" occurred when George Roberson of the Dunes team contested one of Mr. Frank's decisions. The referee shot at him, Roberson fell to the ground, and an ambulance with siren screaming came to carry away the "injured" Roberson. It was a great stunt which brought many laughs.
At the end of the game there was a doubt as to who had won the contest. The scored looked more like a football game. Following is the box score for the Phil Harris team and if the Dunes and a better record then they must have won the game.
