Aviation Marches On

SPEED planes hurling through the sky—Cross country speed derbies terminating at the airport—Squadrons of Military and Naval aircraft—Hundreds of pilots and airplanes from all parts of the country-Planes overhead in every direction—Motor whirring from morn. 'til night—Famous flyers—Dignitaries—Socialites—The Industry's personnel—And hundreds of thousands of eager spectators, in all their glory, concentrated for four days of intense activity—That's the National Air Races! Here is the frontispiece of American Aviation—conceived and dedicated to its advancement—designed to keep pace with its tempo. This year it fittingly commemorates the 15th Anniversary of these annual dramas of American aviation. On these proving grounds pilots, aviation technicians and the laymen public, interested in this great industry, seek and find a pleasant and profitable rendezvous. Here, by tradition, faster ships; more efficient and reliable motors; and safer transportation is given the world by fearless men who dare to prove or disprove the product of aeronautical engineering genius. Cleveland enjoys and warrants the prestige which accrues to it through these annual projects because of its civic minded men and institutions who have made them possible. The hope is that this year's event will build a broader acceptance of aviation—gratify the expectations of the Industry which has overwhelmingly supported it—enlighten and inspire the American public—and bring to Cleveland and carry to the world the prestige of epochal aviation achievements. In its presentation, may it prove a delightfully entertaining and educational panorama of aeronautical progress. AVIATION MARCHES ON!
