[[image]] The late Charles Edwin Thompson, father of America's greatest air racing classic, was a leader in the automotive industry as President of Thompson Products, Inc. His death in 1933 marked the loss to air racing of a distinguished patron and self sacrificing enthusiast. [[image]] Fred Crawford, who succeeded C. E. Thompson as President of Thompson Products, Inc., has carried on the traditional encouragement of speed flying which characterizes the Thompson Trophy award. Each year under his leadership Thompson Products, Inc., have posted larger cash prizes for the winners.
