YOU HAVE A STAKE IN THE THOMPSON TROPHY RACE!
Higher speeds, better maneuverability and greater safety of aircraft bring benefits that affect the lives of all Americans. Such advancements mean faster communication by air mail, added security in passenger transportation, vital advantages for our national air defense. Innovations in engine parts and aerodynamics which seek to contribute to such progress meet a severe practical test in the annual Thompson Trophy Race. The experiment today may become accepted practice tomorrow.
Take valves, for example. A few short years ago, a hundred flying hours were considered satisfactory life for an aircraft engine valve. Necessity brought constant improvement. Today, Thompson Valves serve for thousands of flying hours. Now, adaptations of these super valves go as original equipment into the economical, long-lived automobiles that you drive today and tomorrow.
Look upon the Thompson Trophy Race as more than a sporting speed contest. Out of the roar of engines and breath-taking banks emerge improvements that enrich and protect the lives of all Americans.
