STIMULATING THE "RATE OF CLIMB" OF A GREAT INDUSTRY

AVIATION is no longer a "game" but the expression of the dominant will of brave men and women who set out to prove the the usefulness of aircraft as the ultimate factor in modern transportation . . . speed in commerce . . . speed in industry speed in moving things and men. Life will be more abundant . . . the tempo of commerce and industry will be quickened . . . distance will become a lesser barrier to inter-city, inter-state and inter-national commerce and travel because of this progress.
Ours is a generation of super-transportation, given to us by the courage and ingenuity of brave men and women. Men, women and institutions who BELIEVE in Aviation.
The National Air Races serve as the inspiration for progressive innovations in Aircraft structure and design. Intense competition for Aviation's most coveted trophies and substantial awards challenges the intellectual daring and of engineers and skills of courageous pilots . . . with more obedient standard aircraft . . . with faster airline schedules . . . with surer and more economical commercial and sport planes . . . and more deadly and efficient Military and Naval planes for our national defense, as the net result.
We of the National Air Races have takes seriously our obligations to the Industry which we serve. Serious, capable individuals from all geographic centers of the nation and from all departments of Aviation have lent their efforts to the organization and administration of this truly international, civic and sports classic. The sole objective of their efforts is to inspire greater Aviation progress. May they deserve, for the future, the splendid patronage and support which hundreds of thousands of laymen spectators have given this project in the past . . . ON WITH THE RACES . . . faster, more economical, more obedient airplanes will follow in the "slip stream."
