Collins Course Indicator

Collins announces new flight instrumentation system

This new Collins development is the result of many months of experiment and flight testing. The purpose of this program has been to give the pilot a simpler, more pictorial presentation, on fewer instruments, of all the basic information he needs for precise ILS approach flying and enroute navigation.

The new Collins system accomplishes this end with the two instruments shown, plus a conventional altimeter and air speed indicator. The basic flight group consists of only these four instruments.

More importantly, the integration of additional functions in the new Course Indicator and Approach Horizon has been accomplished in such a way that there is no confusion, but rather a quicker, easier perception of the aircraft's position with respect to the selected course, and easily followed steering directions for making good the course.

A development as revolutionary as this must be seen in operation to be fully understood and appreciated. We are therefore conducting demonstrations to airlines pilots and other technical personnel from coast to coast.

Meanwhile, however, we have prepared charts which illustrate and describe the operation of the system, and will be glad to mail them upon your request.
