Assignment - CO 3595 Flying Training Group (Fighter), USAF jet fighter group, Nellis AF Base.
Combat Record - With the 5th Air Force in Korea, he logged 41 combat missions; in World War II he flew 187 combat missions in both Europe and Asia and is credited with 2 Jap Zeros. He was later deputy commander of the first round-trip jet plane flight from the United States to Germany in 1948.
Decorations - Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf cluster; Air Medal with 15 clusters; Silver Star, etc.

Maj. William T. WHISNER, Jr., USAF
He is the nation's seventh jet ace.
Age - 29    Native of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Family - Father and mother, 1512 Eddy Place, Shrevesport,
Assignment - CO of the 3596 Flying Training Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
Combat Record - Logged 134 combat hours in Korea to add to his 465 combat hours in Europe during World War II. Credited with destroying 5-1/2 in Korea and 18-1/2 in Europe.
Decorations - Distinguished Service Cross with one Oak Leaf cluster; Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf clusters; Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf clusters; Silver Star, etc.
