Assignment - CO 434th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, George Air Force Base, California.
Combat Record - He flew 123 combat missions in Korea with 366 combat hours.
Family - Wife and two children.
Decorations - Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf cluster; Silver Star, Bronze Star, etc.

Maj. James P. HAGERSTROM, USAF
Age - 32
Born - Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Education - Graduate University of Iowa.
Combat Record - Enlisted five weeks after Pearl Harbor. Seventeen months with Fifth Air Force in South Pacific. Credited with 6 victories in SWPac; 1 Zeke, 3 Haps, 1 Tony and 1 Dina. Flew 170 missions. Recalled in October, 1950, after flying in Thompson Trophy Race in 1949 (fifth place). Went overseas with the 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing. Flew 101 missions in F 86s and was squadron commander in 18th Bomber Wing.
Assignment - Assistant chief of Fighter Training, Ninth Air Force Headquarters, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.
Family - Wife (Virginia) and five children; Michelle, 7; Eric, 5; Kristin, 3; Teresa, 2 and Mark, 6 mo.
