TOMMOROW'S AIRCRAFT:
One step closer
In these times when only the strong remain free, your defense dollars must buy superior air power. These are just some of the activities going on at Westinghouse which have as their single purpose superiority in the air for those who fly with the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force-our first-line defenders.

Tail Turrets-Complex radar-operated control equipment like this tail turret protects bombers like the Douglas A3D from attacking aircraft. They are a product of the Air Arm Division. With these controls, a gunner can easily score a bull's-eye on an enemy aircraft that he can't even see!

A-C Mock-Up - Westinghouse is taking the guesswork out of a-c equipment development. Engineers "fly" a bomber on a really tough mission without ever leaving the ground on this new four-engine mock-up at the Aircraft Equipment Department, Lima, Ohio. Advanced a-c system concepts for aircraft are being developed on this unique facility.

Jet Engines (Below)- Westinghouse J34 jet engines-podded and slung under the wings-give the U.S. Navy "Neptune" extra speed and reduce the take-off run. On missions, they can give the extra margin of power to get on target faster and away quicker. They are a product of the Aviation Gas Turbine Division.
