INTERVIEWS WINNER OF BENDIX TROPHY RACE

Monitor at 1:00 P.M. over WRCA (NY) and NBC Network:

ANNOUNCER: "At Oklahoma City, the finals of the Bendix Air Races have just been concluded. For an on the spot report and a word from Captain Manuel Fernandez, Jr., Monitor takes you to Bob Gamble in Oklahoma City."

GAMBLE: "The winner of the Bendix Cross Country Trophy Race has just been announced and it is Captain Manuel Fernandez of Miami, Florida.

"Captain how was the flight?"

FERNANDEZ: "Well, it was a very nice flight. The weather was good. However we encountered stronger headwinds than what we anticipated."

GAMBLE: "About what altitude were you flying, Captain?"

FERNANDEZ: "Well, it was between 20 and 30,000 feet."

GAMBLE: "The weather was fine?"

FERNANDEZ: "The weather wasbeautiful."

GAMBLE: "And your average speed was 656..."
