CAPTAIN LEMUEL A. KRISLE, USAF

Captain Lemuel A. Krisle was born in Prescott, Arizona, 11 July 1920. He entered military service in February 1943 as an aviation cadet and completed his basic and advanced flying training in April 1944, when he received his commission.

Captain Krisle was reassigned to Italy in December 1944, and flew nineteen combat mission for 94 combat flying hours in such major campaigns as Po Valley, Central Europe, North Ardennes, and Rhineland. During this period he flew P-38 aircraft.

At the conclusion of World War II, the Captain was separated from active duty. He was recalled in April 1951, and was assigned to the 91st Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Larson Air Force Base, Washington. He transferred to Europe with this organization in September 1951, and was stationed in England until June 1954, when he returned to the United States. He was reassigned to Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, for a short time, and upon the completion of Advanced Flying School (F-86D) was assigned to Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, Missouri, with the 326th Fighter Interceptor Squadron.

Captain Krisle has been awarded the Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He is a rated Senior Pilot.

He was promoted to first lieutenant (temporary) 2 May 1945; to first lieutenant (permanent) 26 July 1946; to captain (temporary) 15 March 1954; to captain (permanent) 22 April 1954.
