We have a large number of Negro Children in Clayton & Fayette Counties that mought go to School, If their Parents wair able to Employ a teach. Owing to the great drough and the failure of the Crops in these two Counties last year, the Best farmers have been unable to sende their children to School, or to give any assistance in the matter whatever. Thay all appear to be willing or at least a mjorety of the good Citizens, to aid in the matter. The School at this place will have to close after this weak for the want of means to pay the Teacher (Mrs Mary. F. Fuller) She is a poor woman has hir own family to suport by hir own labor - &c

Any assistance that I can render that will advance the freedmen in the education of their Children will be rendered -

Any matter that you desire me to attende to, you will please Enfor me of the nature &c
