I have the honor to make the following report in regard to Schools in counties where I have made inspection in the last month Floyd Co. Three schools, two in Rome, supported by Freedmen, of 50 scholars each, one near Cave Spring 50 pupils pay about $1.00 per month each Building rented by Teacher & Freedmen teacher white. Freedpeople of Cave Spring & vicinity have land for School Building & $350 raised by subscription to each building.
Polk Co. but one school near Vanwert teacher freedman totally unfit for position 40 scholars average payment $1.00 each per month. Cass Co one school at Kingston 50 scholars taught by a competent intelligent Freedwoman. two at Carterville with 140 scholars carried on irregularly teachers incompetent one unable to write his name competent
