Dear Sir I have Been informed by the President of the Penfield Association, to inform you in regard to my Sentiment in the education of the colored people of the South. Now, Sir, my sentiments upon this subject has been evidenced for the last two years by my action taking charge of and teaching a colored school, when it was 
considered a disgrace, and I was, in all probability the only white person in the community who could have been induced to teach such a school  I have done all in my power for their advancement and I have in all thing endeavored to do my whole duty is this
