I have the honor to transmit herewith report of Schools in sub Dist of Thomasville for the month of October.
I have been compelled to send into the County to get the reports & have been delayed on that account
The school at Boston has been discontinued. There seems to be a general depression in the schools on account of the crop, I think. those in the country not being able to pay the teachers. The planters do not favor the teachers and it is almost impossible to collect their pay.
The people are again showing their enmity against schools. a few months ago they were ready to do anything now they refuse to do anything. They seem again to hope to keep the col'd people in ignorance. They seem to think that is the only way for them to keep in power. But which they are repeatedly refusing
