Mr. E. A. Ware,
Atlanta Georgia, Dear Sir: while speaking with Gen. Hofford, concerning the Educational interests of the colored people of this place, Gen H. advised me to communicate with you immediately on this subject. He says that you promised to assist any govd effort that should be made here for the education of the freedmen and their children.
At the present, I am teaching a night-school here. Tomorrow I hope to open a day school. But the people are so poor that they cannot send their children, hardly any of them.
