Sandersville 2nd Dec 1867

E A Ware Esq
Sup Education-

Sir
I have the honor to report to you that so far, as I have been able to learn, there are no schools for freedmen or children in operation in this county- nor have been during the month of November.

The cause of this is the inability of the freed people to pay for the Education of their children - and in this place where I would cheerfully teach them there is no available House for that purpose.

Not one in ten of the freed people in this county has during this year made more than a bare support - and many have not done that well. This in part is owing to the great fall in the price of cotton as well
