Dear Sir, 

Yours of the 16 & 17th inst. were received yesterday, one by Miss Merriam, and the other from the office. I had but recently heard of the probable removal of Miss Leonard; but am very glad to have Miss Merriam so opportunely. Miss Leonard has the promise from the society of a month's notice; and claims the priviledge of remaining for the present; at least, untill after the holidays. I think this reasonable, and cannot object. Having labored here some months, she doubtless needs rest, and this will be far sweeter
